"In the struggle for justice, the only reward is the opportunity to be in the struggle. You can't expect that you're going to have it tomorrow. You just have to keep working on it."
Frederick Douglas
It's Friday today, the day the PVs focus in on helping different agencies throughout the county unrelated to home repair. There were many options for volunteers to choose from, including organizing at the Itmann Food Bank ahead of next week's distribution, distributing furniture at the St. Vincent de Paul warehouse, assisting UGWA with a stream cleanup and knot weed removal, playing banana bingo at Glen Rogers manor, and finishing up at the craft and basketball camps in Pineville. We also had a couple of crews of PVs that helped hang fliers and promote the next basketball camp and another group collected and delivered tools that we will be lending to the Boy Scouts who are coming into the area. A busy day once again, but a wonderful and fulfilling day.
We wrapped up the day with a delicious dinner. Spaghetti, stir fry, salad and the topper, homemade rolls from Daphne. What another delicious week of food we were treated to!
Being that it is Friday, for reflection we looked back on our week as PVs and shared a special moment that solidified why we were here this week, this summer.
